Alex Walsh

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Alex has advised hundreds of small businesses on strategic planning, business development and all areas of corporate finance, specializing in helping business owners sell their business or raise capital for growth and acquisition. In his work with business owners, he has found many have done very little planning for an eventual transition away from the day to day operations or out of the business altogether. 

As a native Arizonan, his passion is working with and advising local companies and helping business owners gain comfort in their eventual retirement and have the knowledge that when the time comes to sell the business they have a well designed plan of action already in hand, a good idea of what that business is worth, and who the next owner will be. He founded Arizona Business Transitions to assist business owners plan for an exit or transition, even if that transition is not on the horizon. 

Alex graduated from Brophy College Preparatory  and later graduated from DePauw University with a degree in Economics and Management. He is a member of the Tempe Diablos Charities and lives in Tempe with his wife Trish and two boys, 10 year old Carter and 7 year old Aidan.

 

Andrew Kolikoff

Andrew’s storied career has taken him from coast-to-coast, from the biggest companies to the smallest, from non-profits to the most entrepreneurial adventures.

Along the way, the gift that has emerged is his innate ability to serve others, most often by connecting them to the right person they need to know at the right time. His reputation as the most connected man in the Valley is well deserved.

Andrew lives in Phoenix, where he keeps a watchful eye on his uber-talented young adult son, Jonah.

Martin Kupper

Chief Business Development Officer

Certified business coach committed to assisting individuals and organizations with developing and implementing successful growth initiatives that produce powerful results and significant return on investment both personally and professionally.

A sample of client engagements include the Kansas Department of Commerce, Extreme Pita Restaurants (Area Developer), Solo Tapas Restaurants, HydroDog Mobile Dog Grooming (Area Developer), Blossom Ventures, AgeNation, AsteriaVentures, iPEC Coaching, Cirkel Technology, Powerteam International, Capistrano Global Advisory Services, Zero Gravity Clinics, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Avail Partners, Dermacare Laser & Skin Care Clinics, and a host of entrepreneurial projects, nonprofit consulting and special events.

Prior to founding Kupper Strategies, he was the Director of Sales with Leadership Network Corporation, producer of the Restaurant Leadership Conference that convened “C-Level” executives from Fortune 1,000 companies together for three days of training, development and comprehensive relationship building.

In addition, he was the Executive Director of Leadership Children’s Foundation, a charitable non profit chartered by Leadership Network Corporation that provided funding for The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Make-A-Wish, ChildHelp USA, The National Center for Mission & Exploited Children and a host of organizations dedicated to alleviating the pain and suffering emanating from child abuse, exploitation and disease.

Bill Merrow

Chief Operating & Marketing Officer

After a successful start to his accounting career in the US Army, Bill joined CIGNA Healthplan where he rose to Controller for CIGNA Systems. His accomplishments included developing and implementing a national information system in over 40 locations nationwide.

After joining American Express, he was responsible for converting the company’s legacy information system and ultimately led the Quality Management and Re-engineering for the Long-Term Care Insurance Division. He eventually became Director for the company’s Annuity Division, where he doubled assets under management from less than $500 million to nearly $1 billion in 18 months.

His consulting career led him to General Electric, where he led acquisition integration of seven companies, focusing on both information systems and sales cross-selling opportunities. As a Senior Consultant with Management Action Programs (MAP), he worked with hundreds of business owners on business and succession planning. He has continued this work with small businesses in this capacity for over two decades.

Bill serves the dual role as Transitions Chief Operating Officer and Marketing Officer, where he works closely with both our Business Development teams and our clients on their transition planning and strategy.

Bill earned a BA in Accounting from Ottawa University in Kansas and an MA in Behavioral Science from John F. Kennedy University in California.

He lives with his wife of 45 years, Susie, and his Zombie-aspiring Mother, Carol, in Mesa. His daughter, Angela, and his grandchildren, Andrew and Madison, live nearby in Phoenix and Tempe.
